The City of Surrey announces Bollywood Actor Jimmy Shergill and Bhangra superstar Lehmber Hussainpuri on Sunday July 18th at Surrey’s Fusion Festival 

The City of Surrey and Coast Capital Savings present Fusion Festival. This family friendly cultural festival is returning to the magnificent Holland Park on July 17th and 18th 2010. In addition to the numerous renowned mainstream acts that will be performing the City has assembled an incredible array of South Asian talent from around the globe.

On Sunday, July 18th, Bollywood actor Jimmy Shergill best known for his break-out role in Yash Chopra’s 2000 hit film, “Mohabbatein” will be on site to launch the North American release of his Punjabi film, “Mel Karade Rabba.” Jimmy Shergill stars alongside local Surrey resident Neeru Bajwa, and Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal, in this film of love and betrayal.

The Bhangra Party continues on the main stage with international Punjabi singing sensation, Lehmber Hussainpuri , who launched his professional singing career with the album, “Sohni Lagdi,” which went on to become a massive musical hit. Since then, Lehmber Hussainpuri has had 15 more successful releases. In addition to his solo work, Lehmber Hussainpuri has also been involved in a number of outstanding collaborations with international superstars like Jazzy B, Sukhshinder Shinda, Swami and Dr. Zeus selling millions of albums world-wide. 

“Through Fusion Festival, BC’s largest multicultural festival, we bring together people from throughout Surrey and the greater community for a weekend of world-class entertainment, cuisine, inspiration and fun. I encourage everyone to be part of this community of diversity through involvement in the Festival” says Councillor Barinder Rasode, Chair of Surrey’s Multicultural Advisory Committee.

Fusion Festival 2010 also features 30 international pavilions and exhibitors who will present a delicious array of world cuisine while showcasing their heritage. This year’s India Pavilion will display authentic Indian art and décor, distinct Indian jewelry and provide festival goers with the opportunity to learn how to tie a sari or a turban. Local South Asian performers A-Slam , Raju Johal , Shez Khan , Surrey Folk Bhangra Club , Shan-E-Punjab and Shiamak’s Bollywood Jazz team will also be participating in the festivities.
